       James Paul “Ratchet” Stewart, 88, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of July, 30th while in the care of Summit Acres nursing home, while in the loving presence of his family.  He was born in New Concord, Ohio on November 7th, 1926 to Harry and Bessie Stewart.  James worked as a mechanic, for the Guernsey Co. Highway Dept. until 1991, when he retired.  He was proud World War II veteran; having served in the United States Army.

                He is predeceased by his loving wife, Audrey Mae Stewart, his son, Steven Stewart, his daughter, Susan Irene Hall, and his sister, Alice Hammell.  He is survived by his son, Jim (Linda) Stewart, son, Ron (Cathy) Stewart, his daughter, Faye (Alan) Hughes, daughter, Sherry (Dale) Haught, daughter, Nancy (Tom) Harding, and his daughter, Patty (Charlie) Pavlic.  He also leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter-in-law, Jyl Stewart, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

            Friends may call at the Farus Funeral home of New Concord on Monday, August 3rd from 11am to 12 Noon, with services starting at Noon.  Burial will follow at the Zion Cemetery in Claysville, with military honors being performed.
