Freda Bates Obituary

Freda Mae (Warne) Bates, 84, of Duncan Falls passed away the 27th day of February, 2018 at Cedar Hill Care Center where she had resided with her husband, Jerry Myrl Bates until his passing on January 17, 2018. Born November 12, 1933 to the late William and Jennie Warne, Freda grew up in High Hill. When she started the second grade, Freda met the third grade boy who would later become her husband. After growing up together, and Freda graduating from Meigs High School in 1951, she married Jerry on April 19, 1952 and they celebrated more than 65 years of marriage. Freda and Jerry loved being with each other in the many activities they shared together- as parents raising their girls, building a new home, gardening, baking, canning, keeping their home and yard immaculate, and always helping and caring for family, friends, neighbors and their community. They shared a very loving, supportive, and caring relationship and seemed almost inseparable.

Freda loved being a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, raising her two daughters, and later providing childcare for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, and was an amazing cook, being well known for her delicious noodles and homemade pies. Freda also worked as a Librarian Aid at the former Duncan Falls Junior High School and was a former 4-H Advisor.

Freda enjoyed the Duncan Falls community where she attended the Duncan Falls Presbyterian Church. She was also a supporter of the Franklin Local School District and attended many sporting events with Jerry.

Freda was very proud of her family and is survived by her two children, Cindy (Sam) Paul and Karen (Dan) Vincent, three grandchildren, Joshua (Melissa) Paul, Corey (Tiffany) Paul and Travis Paul, eight great-grandchildren, (Dakota, Amber, Emily, Greg, Ray, Spencer, Mady and Kenzie), sister, Shirley Carpenter, brother in law, Dana (Sue) Bates, sister in laws, Rose Marie Bates and Mildred Warne Shuster; and many special nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ed Warne, two brother in laws, Richard and Ronald Bates; sister in law, Janet Bates; father and mother in law, Dallas and Georgia (Paisley) Bates.

The family wishes to express their heart felt gratitude to the Cedar Hill Care Center staff for their kind and compassionate care of their mother.
