Edith P. Rayner

January 16, 1925 ~ April 12, 2017 (age 92) 92 Years Old

Edith P. Rayner, 92 of Duncan Falls, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 while under the care of Genesis Hospice at the Morrison House.

 

Edith was born in “Toad Town” in Meigs Township on January 16, 1925.  She is the daughter of the late Samuel J. and Grace (Ellis) Alexander.  She worked for Tempkin Bearing in Zanesville for several years and then worked on her family farm in Blue Rock for most of her life.  She was a member of the ‘Little Ark Angles’ a sewing club at Ark Springs Baptist Church in Chandlersville, she loved quilting, embroidering, spending time with her family and she loved her little pup Molly.  She was a faithful member of Rural Dale United Methodist Church.

 

Edith is survived by her two children Glenna (Sam) Mitchell of Philo and Edwin (Michelle) Rayner of Blue Rock; her grandchildren Brandon Rayner, Jessica (Scott) Sterling, MaryBeth (Josh) Swingle and her great-grandchildren Christian Lemon and Cheyenne Swingle and one step grandson Dakotah Sterling.

 

Edith is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles E. Rayner who passed away May 29, 1988; her granddaughter Amy Diann Wilkins who passed away May 11, 1985; her brothers Kenneth, George, Roy and Robert Alexander and her sisters Burdella Calendine, Mary Burkhart and Hazel Downey.

 

Please consider making memorial contributions in Edith’s name to the Rural Dale United Methodist Church, to the Muskingum County Animal Shelter or to Genesis Hospice, Morrison House.

Friends and family are welcome to attend calling hours from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Friday, April 14, 2017 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls.  Funeral Services will be held at 11 am Saturday at the Funeral Home with Sandy Rayner and Paul Hutcheson officiating.  She will be laid to rest in the Gaysport Hill Cemetery beside her husband.
