Earl J. Barnes

January 27, 1934 ~ September 25, 2015 (age 81) 81 Years Old

 

 

Earl J. Barnes, 81 of Zanesville passed away surrounded by his loving family on September 25, 2015 while under the care of Genesis Hospice.

 

Earl was born January 27, 1934 in Chandlersville to Lewis Earl and Ina (Baughman) Barnes; Earl was known throughout the county for his caring friendship to all and his smile; he was a 1952 graduate of Chandlersville High School, he was a longtime member of the Chandlersville United Methodist Church, Anchor Lodge #283 F&AM, Carlwick Grange, Amrou Grotto, Philo-Duncan Falls Lions Club. 

He was Salt Creek Township Trustee, a member of the Clerks and Trustees Association and he served on the Muskingum County Fair Board for 28 years.  He volunteered countless hours including Genesis Bethesda Hospital and was inducted into the Franklin Local Alumni Wall of Honor in 2012.

He worked for the Ohio Ferro Alloy in Philo for 11 years and he retired in 1994 from Racine Hydraulics after 30 years. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Lebanon and Berlin Crisis.

 

Earl is survived by his love, Janet Bates of Zanesville, Janet’s daughters Brenda Maniaci, Gina (Steve) White and her son Loren (Marianne) Bates; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law Donna Barnes, several nieces and nephews and countless friends.

 

In addition to his parents, Earl is preceded in death by his twin brother Merl Barnes who passed away in 2013 and his brother Harold Barnes who passed away in 2014.

Visitations will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Monday, September 28, 2015 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls where funeral services will be 2 p.m, Tuesday with Rev. Doug Winner officiating.  He will be laid to rest in the Duncan Falls Cemetery with full military honors provided by VFW post #1058 and the US Army Color Guard.
