Dolores H. Grimes

Dolores “Dolly” H. Grimes (Barney) passed away at the age of 80 in her home, surrounded by her family on January 20th 2015. She was born in Philadelphia, PA on November 18th 1934. She graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Mary Immaculate Hospital School of Nursing in Newport News, VA. Before living in Ohio, she was a first lieutenant in the Air Force and served overseas, enabling her to experience a variety of cultures and leave her mark of kindness wherever she went. Dolly then moved to Parkersburg, WV, where she began raising her daughters and working in the emergency room at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She then dedicated the rest of her working career to serving as a school nurse in the Rolling Hills School District for over thirty years. She never saw her career as work but more as a life full of compassion and love for others, seeking to always help others with the utmost altruism. Her selflessness extended to her hobbies: gardening, crafts, the beach, bingo, but most of all, her family. Dolly was truly the matriarch and center of her family, providing the love that held the family as one.

She is preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Peter Barney. She is survived by her sister Eileen Barney; three daughters Cathleen (Carlos) Ballinger, Teresa (William) Neptune, Stephanie (Daniel) Robinson; nine grandchildren Jeff (Jamie) McDowell, Ashley (Amber) McDowell, Shawn Ballinger, Rashell (Alan) Melville, Todd (Jana) Neptune, Tyler (Alex) Neptune, Troy Neptune, Tim Neptune, and Dane Robinson; and four great-grandchildren Landon McDowell, Cameron Melville, Sophie Neptune, and Jayden Neptune.

Services will be held at Farus Funeral Home in New Concord, OH on Saturday, January 24th. Family and friends are able to visit from 1-3 preceding a memorial service at 3 pm with Pastor Keith Taylor officiating.  www.farusfh.com
