Becky J. Hutcheson

February 4, 1937 ~ July 27, 2016 (age 79) 79 Years Old

 

Rebecca J. “Becky” Hutcheson, 79 of Philo passed away peacefully with her family by her side at 4:25 am on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 while under the care of Genesis Hospice Morrison House.

 

Becky was born in Zanesville on February 4, 1937 the daughter of the late Robert and Mary (Chambers) Sheppard.  Becky started her working career at Mickey’s Restaurant in Zanesville at the age of 16; she also worked for the Ellis Pharmacy in Duncan Falls and the Dairy Queen as well as the Steer Inn in Zanesville; she worked for the Village of Philo as the assistant to the Clerk for several years and she managed the Harrison Township Swimming Pool for 13 years and worked as the front desk clerk for the Best Western Hotel in Downtown Zanesville.  She spent countless hours volunteering for the Philo Elementary School.  In her younger years she spent time racing dirt cars in the Powder Puff Derby.  She received the award of merit in the Philo High School Athletic Hall of Fame and she was inducted into the Franklin Local Alumni Hall of Fame. She loved to make homemade cards for all of her family and friends.  One of the greatest joys of her life was spending time at the Philo High School Football and Basketball games taking tickets and talking with everyone!  She was a member of the Philo United Methodist Church where she was Director of Vacation Bible School and she was a Sunday school teacher.

 

Becky is survived by her husband, Sam Hutcheson whom she married June 11, 1961; her three sons Tony (Diana) Hutcheson, Chris (Julie) Hutcheson and Kevin Hutcheson; her grandchildren Samantha (Scott) Moyer, Jordan Hutcheson, Kristen Hutcheson, Kara Hutcheson, Destiny Hutcheson and Stephanie Vousden; her brothers Steve (Bonnie) Sheppard and Sam (Pam) Sheppard and her three sisters Joan (Arlo) Barclay, Bertie Sue (Bob) England and Thaila (Jim) Harmon and sisters-in-law Rose Sheppard and Ellen Chichka (Jim Barr).

 

In addition to her parents, Becky is preceded in death by her brother Donald Sheppard.

 

Friends and family are welcome to attend calling hours from 4 to 7 pm on Friday, July 29, 2016 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls.  Funeral services will be immediately following the visitations at 7 pm with Pastor Dee Rader officiating.
