Arthur Lewis Herron

Arthur L. Herron, 65, of Cumberland went to be with the Lord on September 28th, 2016.  He was born on November 15th, 1950 in Zanesville, Ohio to the Late Asa and Esther Herron.  He was a 1968 graduate of John Glenn High School, and resided in Rich Hill Township his whole life.  An avid farmer, Arthur truly had a passion for farming, and enjoyed every moment that he was working his farm.  His favorite thing was spending time with his grandchildren; he loved watching them drive their tractors at tractor pulls.  Arthur was a man of many interests and was the owner of the Service Station in Chandlersville, he worked at Central Ohio Coal, was a District 6 UMWA Representative, worked in Rich Hill Township, and was a self-employed truck driver before finally retiring in 2012.  He was also a member of the Freeland Valley Antique Power Club.

            He is predeceased by his parents, his In-Laws, Elmer and Ada Carpenter, and his siblings Chuck, Tracy, and Peg, and his brother-in-law, Bill Carpenter.  He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Sandra (Carpenter) Herron, whom he married on July 14th, 1973.  He will be deeply missed by his four children including: Adam (Tracey) Herron, Krystle (Randy) Sotherden, Katrina (Jeremy) Kreager, and Kayla (Roy Higgins II) Herron; as well as his 6 grandchildren including J.D. & Blythe Herron, Chelsea & Dylan Sotherden, and Kase and J.R. Kreager.  He also leaves behind his siblings Roger, Bob, Mary, and Andy as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

            Friends and family may attend Calling Hours for Arthur at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord on Sunday, October 2nd from 2 to 6PM.  Services will follow on Monday the 3rd at the Rix Mills Presbyterian Church, with an additional calling hour starting at 10am.  Services will begin sharply at 11, and burial will take place in Rich Hill Cemetery.  Pastor Jim Gibson will officiate services.
