On Wednesday March 22, 2017. Albert Eugene "Gene" Taylor passed from this life to be one with God. There seldom passes men on earth who embodies such intelligence with wisdom, gentle strength and the ability to create, build, fix or make anything. Born in Norwich to Florence Cosgrave Taylor and Glenwood Taylor. He was a steward of the land he was born on for 84 years. His love of gardening was evident to many as they passed by the front yard garden which fed his family and numerous friends and neighbors yearly. He married his wife Betty in 1955 just before entering the Army Signal Corps stationed in Korea. Upon his return they created a wonderful family. He is survived by his wife Betty; his son Mark (Cheryl) Taylor, his daughter Molly Taylor and daughter Nancy Taylor (Jerry Pompili); grandsons Roy (Melissa) Taylor, Gianni Pompili and Nicco Pompili; granddaughter Rebecca Taylor and great grandchildren Austin and Addison; his sisters Elaine Lighthizer and Charlene Harkins; Nieces Jill Grubb, Susan Scott, and Amy Still-Pepper.

As a veteran of the Korean War, he trained many in electrical engineering and communications. He continued his work with the phone company for 36 years. More than just a job he was well respected by coworkers and made fast friends. Neighbors called on him often for help or to fix something and he always came to help, often with vegetables from his garden. He loved taking fishing trips, going to car shows, auctions and traveling. He was a member of Sonora Methodist Church. All who knew him said he was a good man. A master of many things he leaves a legacy of quiet strength that will endure. While his body now rests his spirit lives on in all he touched and in all whom he loved.
