Verl E. Stockton, 85, of Zanesville, Ohio, died on March 6, 2018 at 3:15 P.M., in Genesis Hospital.
He was born October 17, 1932, at Moxahala Park. Mr. Stockton was a Biblical Christian, and a member of the Salem United Methodist Church where he served in various capacities. He graduated with honors from Lash High School and attended Ohio University and Ohio State University.
He was a Korean Conflict veteran, serving as a Flash Ranger in the 235th Field Observation Battalion. He worked at the General Electric Parts Distribution Center in New Concord for 34 years retiring in 1992.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Lou (Bowden) Stockton, whom he married September 12, 1964; two daughters, Valerie (Robert) Lynn Coupe and Melanie Dawn Rakushin, both of Hamilton, Ohio; and four grandchildren, Rachel (Christian) Myton, Adam (Kayla) Coupe, Rebecca Coupe, and Jessica Rakushin; as well as a nephew, Jay (Mary) Bonifield and niece, Jan (Sam) Dykes.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Verl Leo and Ella Beatrice (Grether) Stockton and one sister, Vonda E. and her husband, Samuel Bonifield, as well as brothers-in-law, Leroy Bowden, John Potirus, Carl Echelberry, Robert Chaney, and a sister-in-law, Rosan Echelberry.
Friends and family are welcome to attend visitations at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord on Saturday, March 10th from 10 to 11am. Services will be at 11am with the Rev. Jeff Belt officiating. Burial will be held in the Heaven’s Gate Cemetery following the service.
